Take Me To Your Lime Crime

Celia Leslie said in her Lime Crime YouTube video that the nineties are coming back in a way that’s both completely bold and entirely chic, and with it, the rise in popularity of intergalactic motifs like stars, aliens, moons, and spaceships. Alongside these motifs, comes the resurfacing of grunge-y pastels, in addition to holographic and metallic textures. Channel these extraterrestrial vibes via your everyday makeup look to let everyone know that you’re ready to take over the universe. (Or that you come in peace. Whatever. It’s your choice.)

Start by applying your base face makeup as usual. Be certain to prime and moisturize for a face that keeps through every layer of the atmosphere. Use a contouring brush to sculpt your face, paying particular attention to the cheek/jawline and along the sides of your nose. Highlight cheekbones, down the nose, above the lip, and on the chin using a silver or lilac-tinted pressed highlighting powder. A great option is the Lime Crime Superfoils Eyeshadow duos, which can double as an ultra shimmery highlight. For this look, consider “Crystal” (in the Crystal/Champagne duo) or “Electric” in the Electric/Barbarella duo.  Both of which can be seen in the Tumblr demo, as well as purchased from the Urban Outfitters store.

Use the same, highly-pigmented shimmery silver (as in Crystal) to cover your eyelids, from the inner corners to the outer crease. Then, go in with a darker, bolder shimmery purple shadow (such as “Cosmic” in the Cosmic/Firefly duo, or “Squad” in the Squad/Goals duo) in the outer corners for a blended-to-perfection smokey eye. To really rocket this eye look to another level, line eyes with a sharp cat-eye using the Lime Crime Liquid Liner in Quill. From there, draw two little dots with the liner in the inner corners of your eyes, one on each side of your nose. Line outer bottom lash line with black, or choose a white pencil to make eyes appear bigger. Finish off with a brush of black mascara.

Go for an ultra matte or ultra metallic look for lips. A swipe of Perlees Matte Lipstick in a shade like “Asphalt” or the appropriately-named “Roswell” are certain to pull everything together. For the more daring, go for the Lime Crime Metallic Velvetines, in a shade like Posh or Mercury, or one of the Matte Velvetines in Moonstone or Thistle, both available through the Love-Makeup.co.uk store. The long-lasting formula makes lip-liner unnecessary, so slip on your platforms and get ready to blast them all away. Your starry eyes will leave everyone else starry-eyed.
