Improving Quality of Life Through Steam Cell Treatment

The Lung Institute was founded with one main goal, to help people suffering from chronic lung disease live an improved quality of life. For those who have been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, quality of life can be greatly impaired. Such lung diseases can make even simple daily tasks, such as checking the mail or cooking dinner, daunting because of how extremely difficult they become. Most traditional treatments only aim to relieve symptoms instead of actually trying to slow down the progression of the disease itself. These traditional treatments also come with negative side effects. Because of this, the Lung Institute has developed a stem cell treatment that aims to address not only a patient’s symptoms from lung disease, but also the disease.

The Lung Institute uses autologous stem cells, which come right from the patient, to harness the body’s natural ability to heal. After the patient’s stem cells are drawn from their blood or bone marrow, they’re then reintroduced to the patient’s body in which they can be placed inside their lungs to help them heal and reduce inflammation. Patients can either being treated through a blood-derived stem cell procedure or a bone marrow derived treatment. The venous treatment (blood-derived) is slightly less invasive but may need more follow-up treatments for a patient to feel optimal results. The bone marrow procedure may allow the patient to breathe easier faster since bone marrow contains a greater amount of adult stem cells as opposed to the amount found in peripheral blood used in the venous procedure. Each procedure consists of the patient returning for several hours to receive treatment for a few days.

This treatment has proven to help sufferers of lung disease by easing their symptoms and slowing down the progression of their disease. This form of treatment entails a minimally invasive procedure that has shown to be greatly effective in regards to improving a patient’s quality of life. Every patient that’s treated at the Lung Institute is screened beforehand so that treatments can be altered to each specific unique case to ensure they receive the best possible results.  Check out the Lung Institute’s social media page on Twitter.
